Measuring Growth

Assessments & Conferences

We believe the adults in a child's life do their best work when they're in it together. Our assessment and conference structure is built to keep teachers and families genuinely connected — not just at milestone moments, but throughout the year.

Twice-yearly assessments

Each child is assessed twice a year across key developmental areas: social and emotional growth, language and literacy, math and cognitive development, fine and gross motor skills, and school readiness. These aren't tests — they're careful, teacher-led observations gathered over time in the natural flow of the classroom day. The goal is a clear, honest picture of where each child is thriving and where a little extra support might help.

Parent-teacher conferences

Following the spring assessment in March, we hold one-on-one conferences with every family. This is dedicated time — just you and your child's teachers — to share observations, celebrate growth, and talk through anything on your mind. We come prepared, and we encourage you to as well. The best outcomes for children happen when families and teachers are working from the same page.

Ongoing communication

Assessments and conferences are the formal moments, but good communication happens all year. Our teachers are always paying attention, and if something comes up that's worth a conversation — a new skill emerging, a social dynamic worth discussing, something that might benefit from extra support — they'll reach out to talk it through. And at pickup, they're always available for the quick check-ins that add up to a lot over the course of a year.
