Job Title: Part-Time Preschool Teacher (3 Days a Week)Location: Pixie Hill Preschool, Mercer Island, WA
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday; 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Reports To: Preschool Director / Lead Preschool Teachers
Job Summary:
We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and creative Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team part-time, working three days per week supporting students ages 2.5-5. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood development, skilled in fostering a safe and engaging learning environment, and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and families.Pixie Hill Preschool is a non-profit located on Mercer Island that has been running for 67 years. It serves children aged 2.5-5 years old with a curriculum that mixes play-based and structured learning. All teachers are college-educated and are paid a liveable wage.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare materials, and implement age-appropriate curriculum that supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
Foster a warm, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere
Encourage exploration, creativity, and independence through play-based learning
Enjoy engaging in play with students both indoors and outdoors
Observe and document student progress; share observations with parents and the teaching team
Comfortable discussing student progress and reporting challenges to families
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom
Communicate effectively and professionally with children, parents, and staff
Support children with transitions, routines, and positive behavior guidance
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or in-progress); preferred if in Early Childhood Education or related field
Knowledge of child development principles and early learning standards
Strong classroom management and communication skills
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Background check and fingerprint clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred if degree is in Early Childhood Education or related field
Previous experience working with preschool-aged children
Teaching certification or credential
Bilingual abilities are a plus
Experience with an outdoor/forest style school is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive hourly wage: $24-$32, based on experience and qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Total 5 weeks paid time off: 4-weeks vacation during school vacation closures (Winter Break, Mid Winter Break, Spring Break), plus 3 school holidays (i.e. Thanksgiving Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day), plus 2 days earned PTO
Paid preparation and event time outside of regular classroom hours
